Nikro Air Duct Cleaning in Houston: What to Know First
Nikro air duct cleaning in Houston runs $450 – $950 for a full residential system on a single-zone home, and most jobs our crew finishes in 4 to 6 hours. We’re an independent Nikro service provider – not authorized by the manufacturer – but we run Nikro negative-air machines on nearly every residential job because they pull more debris out of the return side than portable shop-style equipment ever will. If you own a home with older Nikro-installed ductwork or you’re just looking for a Houston crew that uses Nikro’s negative-air method, call (713) 936-5800 and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.
How Nikro Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Nikro makes negative-air machines and HEPA filtration units, not ductwork itself, which means most “Nikro problems” in Houston are actually system problems that a Nikro machine exposes. Here’s what we see in the field:
- Nikro HEPA-filter saturation on long-neglected systems. Homes in the Energy Corridor with ductwork untouched since the 1990s will clog a Nikro HEPA filter within the first hour. That’s not a machine failure – it’s the filter doing its job. We carry replacement Nikro-compatible HEPA filters on the truck and swap them mid-job rather than running a blinded filter and pretending the system got clean.
- Return-side collapse on older trunk lines. The negative-air pull from a Nikro machine is strong enough to expose weak return ducts, especially flex duct that’s degraded in Houston’s attic heat. We inspect the return side before pulling full vacuum so we don’t turn a soft duct into a collapsed one.
- Supply and return imbalance after a previous unsealed cleaning. If a previous crew brushed the supply side without sealing register boots afterward, the Nikro unit’s suction pressure drops and you get air bypassing the filter altogether. We re-seal boots and access points before running the negative-air cycle so the machine actually pulls through the duct, not around it.
- Contaminant recirculation from a dirty blower cabinet. On many Nikro-model jobs – particularly Nikro’s mid-sized units on two-story homes – we find the blower cabinet was never isolated during prior cleanings. Dust from the cabinet gets pulled back into recently cleaned duct runs. We isolate and clean the blower cabinet as its own step, then run the Nikro machine through the full duct network.
- Water damage in the return plenum. Houston humidity plus a sweating coil pan means the return plenum often collects enough moisture to grow microbial film. Nikro’s filtration will pull particulates, but the moisture problem has to be addressed separately. We identify it, tell you what it is, and quote the fix in writing before doing anything.
Styles & brands we work with

Our Nikro Air Duct Cleaning Process
- 1
Call and written price. You call (713) 936-5800, we walk through your system size and any problem areas, and we give you a flat written price for the full Nikro negative-air cleaning before we schedule anything.
- 2
Site arrival and inspection. Our tech arrives uniformed and background-checked, walks the system with you, and notes any visible problems – collapsed runs, water staining, unsealed boots, or prior patch jobs.
- 3
Isolate and protect. We seal registers, isolate the blower cabinet, and set access points. This keeps dust from recirculating through your HVAC while the Nikro machine runs.
- 4
Agitation plus negative-air extraction. We run agitation tools through the ducts while the Nikro unit pulls full vacuum with HEPA filtration. Supply and return sides get separate passes. On older or fragile flex duct we adjust the vacuum pressure so we don’t damage the duct lining.
- 5
Video inspection before-and-after. We show you real footage of what was in the ducts and what’s left after the cleaning. If something wasn’t reached, you’ll see it – and we’ll re-do it under the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
- 6
Cleanup and walkthrough. Site is left clean. We walk the system with you one more time and confirm the written price hasn’t moved.

AfterWhat Nikro Air Duct Cleaning Costs in Houston
For most single-zone Houston homes, a full Nikro negative-air duct cleaning runs between $450 and $950. Larger two-story homes or systems with multiple zones typically run $800 to $1,400. What moves the price: total duct run length, number of supply and return registers, whether the blower cabinet needs isolated cleaning, and whether prior work left unsealed access holes. We don’t price per vent and we don’t offer a coupon price that balloons at the door. The price we write down before we start is the price you pay. Call (713) 936-5800 for a free estimate on your Nikro air duct cleaning.
Why Houston Homeowners Call Hollis Air Duct Houston for Nikro Work
We’re the Houston crew that runs the Nikro negative-air method as a standard, not an upsell. Every job gets the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing – if the cleaning isn’t done right within a year, we return and make it right at no charge, including a free second visit. Phones are answered by a live person, 24/7, no voicemail loops. Our techs work on Lennox, Trane, and Carrier systems regularly, so when they’re inside your Houston ductwork they understand how the whole system interacts, not just the ducts. Roy Castellanos runs the Houston operation with the same Garrison Code his crew follows on every job: arrive inside the window, price it in writing, do it by the book, leave the site clean. Clean air doesn’t announce itself – you just stop noticing the problem.
FAQs
Nikro’s manufacturer warranty covers their equipment, not the duct cleaning itself. Our work is covered by our own 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing – if the cleaning fails within a year, we return and re-do it at no charge. Call (713) 936-5800 and we’ll tell you exactly what’s covered before you agree to anything.
We use Nikro-compatible HEPA filters that meet the same filtration rating as OEM, and we carry them on the truck so a saturated filter doesn’t stall your job. If your system needs genuine OEM parts anywhere in the process, we’ll show you the part number and the price difference before ordering. Nothing hidden.
Most homes in the Houston area can be scheduled within the same week. We don’t promise same-day service, because a proper Nikro negative-air job is scheduled work – the machine needs time to pull debris, and we don’t rush it. Call (713) 936-5800 and we’ll give you a real arrival window, not a moving one.
We show you before-and-after video of the inside of your ductwork right there on the job. If you see remaining debris that should have been removed, that’s a re-do under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. No thumb-drive theater – you see the footage on our screen before we leave.
For Houston homes with decades-old ductwork, yes. The negative-air method captures debris as it’s agitated, rather than brushing it loose and letting it recirculate through the house. A brush-only job on old ducts often just moves dust around. The Nikro machine pulls it out of the system before it settles in your return vents. If you’re comparing quotes, ask each contractor whether they run a true negative-air setup or just a brush with a shop vacuum attached.
